MEDC0091 Research Methods in Food and Nutrition Welcome to Research
Methods in Food and Nutrition. This module will consider issues shared by
Nutritional Sciences and medical sciences including research integrity and
governance, project funding and management, the scientific literature,
critical reading, the peer review process, scientific communication methods
and experimental design. Consideration will also be given to research
methodologies employed in particular medical sciences including specific
experimental design and interpretation. Students will be required to
develop a research proposal as part of the assessment. This moodle page
aims to provide you with useful information about the module. If the

module students will be able to: 1. Critically appraise
the real world considerations of research activity and the
research process. 2. Evaluate the fundamentals
of experimental design including clinical trials 3.
Understand generation of the scientific literature and its use

governance 5. Apply effective forms of science
