SURG0124: Fundamentals of Anaesthesia, Surgery and Acute Physiology 21/22
During this module, we will take you on a journey to learn about what the
big deal is about having surgery. With a strong practical emphasis, you
will come to Pre-Assessment clinic, meet patients, and start to think about
what we need to do to get a patient ready for surgery, and how we consider
the idea of "risk" during the process.Focusing on the respiratory and
cardiovascular systems, we will revise the scientific principles, and then
you will join us in the operating theatre to really understand how we use
the basic sciences to look after our patients during their operation. You
will learn key skills in pain assessment and management, and visit some
patients after they have had their operations to see how it really works in
practice.
