Academic Writing for Doctoral Students (AWDS) (Online SPR 21-22)

This Academic Writing for Doctoral Students (AWDS) short course is aimed at early and mid-career doctoral students who are beginning to write their theses. The course offers support in four key aspects of writing at this stage of your doctoral career: the nature of doctoral writing; writing about the literature; being critical and creating an argument; and responding to supervisor feedback. The course lasts four weeks and each week there is short reflective task, followed by a video of a doctoral supervisor talking about one of these aspects, followed by a participant-led discussion or webinar. These are not classes or lectures: the objective is for participants to share their practice, perspectives and experiences, and, in this way, draw up a constructed understanding of how these areas are operationalised at doctoral level.
