ENGL0012: Critical Commentary and Analysis
This course offers third-year students opportunities to practise and refine
their critical skills in preparation for the exam which most will be
sitting at the end of the year. Students will be reacquainted with a range
of issues and approaches pertaining to the close reading of literature, and
will be supported to hone their analytical techniques. Each term, students
will have four compulsory seminars in which group discussions of selected
passages develop their skills of commentary and analysis. Please note: a
small amount of preparatory reading will be required in advance of seminars
and will be distributed in advance by your seminar leaders. There will also
be one introductory lecture and two lectures on exam preparation.
