This module offers an overview of the basics of criminal law. We will study how we define a criminal offence, and the legal proceedings relating to it. Areas of study include: sexual offences; non-fatal offences against the person; involuntary manslaughter; elements of murder and the case for reforming the law on murder; theft; complicity; and the various defences to criminal liability.
