PUBL0016: Energy and Climate Policy (21/22)
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century due
to its multi-sectoral, global dimension with impacts on all areas of public
policy, from economic policy to health policy, development policy and
social policy. This applied, introductory and wide-ranging module will
provide students with a background in climate change issues from a
multidisciplinary perspective. Students will be introduced to climate
change science and policy, international climate negotiations and finance,
energy policy, environmental policy, business sustainability, and research
and analysis in energy and climate policy. The module will also equip
students with multidisciplinary methodological approaches for undertaking
policy-relevant analysis in the climate change field. The module assignment
will provide students with the opportunity to undertake a small piece of
research on a topic of their choice to apply what they have learned. There
are no pre-requisites for the module and the module is designed for those
new or relatively new to the field. Students that already have a strong
background in the field are welcome but the module is primarily aimed at
those new or relatively new to the field.
